Responsibilities

Department Overview

 

The metals business includes both precious and base metals and provides trading capability and access to markets via its online execution platforms. Technology has been highlighted by the business as a vital component in its ability to scale efficiently, which is evident in the investment and close relationship between the teams (the London team sits on the trading floor!). Metals technology consists of six, globally located, agile scrum teams working across the businesses value streams. These teams are facilitated by the London team which sets technical direction and, where necessary, acts as a conduit between the business and the other technical teams for complex business domains.

 

Roles and Responsibilities but not limited to :-

  • Coding and Development:
    • Write, test, and debug code for software applications in Java, Typescript, Python, and React
    • Collaborate with the development team to design and implement software solutions using cloud native technologies
    • Follow coding standards and best practices in a real-time event-based architecture
  • Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with team members and the front office traders to complete tasks and projects which interact directly with trading systems
    • Communicate progress and challenges effectively to team leads and supervisors
  • Bug Fixing:
    • Identify and resolve software defects and issues
    • Work with senior developers to troubleshoot and fix bugs
  • Testing:
    • Participate in unit testing, integration testing, and quality assurance processes as part of the automated continuous integration/continuous deployment process
    • Assist in creating test cases and performing testing activities

 Early Careers Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in a relevant program and graduating by July -August 2027 (entering penultimate year of university)
  • Available for a June 2026 start date for a 10-week program
  • Must be fully authorized to work in the UK for any employer.

 Working environment:

  • In-office ( minimum 4 days in the office)
